Description

Uraga is a stalwart region for sourcing excellent, classic Guji profiles. Within Southern Ethiopia, this is the specific area from which we’ve bought more coffee than anywhere else, and part of why Ethiopia has been such a pillar of our coffee program since the beginning.

Background

Our partners at origin source annually from Kerchanshe station and exporter, and at the peak of the coffee season, the cup quality is on par with any Guji G1. The coffees in this specific lot come from the forests in and around Yabitu Koba, Larcho Torka, and Layo Teraga. Cup character is quintessential northern Guji: pure, clear fruit character along tartaric lines of white grape and white peach. Aged Oolong floral notes perfume the profile. The finish is incredibly long and sweet like Medjool Date. Established 15 years ago, Kerchanshe has become one of the largest producers and exporters of coffee in Ethiopia. With 350 raised beds, Uraga station serves close
to 1900 farmers in the area. Kerchanshe impacts the livelihood of hundreds of coffee growers throughout the southern and southwestern coffee growing regions reinvesting 10% of its annual profits into social programs.
